The La Placita Building is under the management of Rising Sun Entrepreneurs. At La Placita, you will find services and workshops for Oakland’s multi-ethnic entrepreneurial community.

What’s going on in that big yellow Castle on Fruitvale?

A lot of people ask this question and only those that allow their curiosity to bring them in will discover the number of things going on here.  The facility is managed and operated by Rising Sun Entrepreneurs. It is a family owned business that focuses on helping entrepreneurs get their micro business off the ground. We also assist small business entrepreneurs in networking, obtaining small business loans, business licenses and food vendors with local permits.

The facility and the services provided here are open to all residents of Oakland and beyond.  We aim to help those with limited resources establish small businesses in a variety of fields, but we have a particular niche in helping entrepreneurs in the food industry. Our Mobile Food Vendor workshops have contributed to the success of hundreds of independent caterers throughout the East Bay Area.

Commercial Kitchen

Mobile Food Vendor Workshops

We offer a Mobile Food Vendor workshop 2 times per month. The workshop is designed to provide future mobile food vendors with all the necessary information in order to  get started in this booming micro business. The workshops are free and are lead by Emilia Otero, the founder of ACAF, Oaklands very first Mobile Food Vendor program, and Shelly Garza, Rising Sun Commercial Kitchen’s General Manager. Both ladies have a collective experience in the mobile vending industry of over 20 years. Facility Rental for Special Events
